My husband and I stayed in the Amalia Hotel during our recent trip to Rome, and we were not disappointed. The best part of this hotel is its location. It is a short walk to the Vatican and a shorter walk to the nearest Metro station. There are some restaurants and gelaterias nearby, as well. The front desk staff were all very friendly and spoke English well. Our room was very small (very typical for Europe), but was nice and had all the things we needed. We did not bring our son, but if we did, a larger room would have been necessary. The breakfast is what I hear is typical of an Italian breakfast: pastries, cereal, and coffee/juice. My only complaint is the amount of noise on the street at night--bring a fan or white noise machine!! Overall, I was extremely happy with our choice--I would stay there again!
